Wonka Ending Explained & Spoilers: What Happened at the End?

Wonka is a new take on a classic story featuring allusions to real-world white-collar crimes, and it has fans wondering what happens at the end of the movie. So, here’s Wonka’s ending explained with spoilers from the movie.

What happened at the end of Wonka?

Toward the end of Wonka, Willy exposes the crimes of the Chocolate Cartel and chief of police with the help of his friends and finally opens up his own Chocolate Factory.

Thanks to Hugh Grant’s Oompa-Loompa, Noodle and Willy Wonka managed to survive drowning in the chocolate tanker. Right when Slugworth, Prodnose, and Fickelgruber were revealing their “accidental” demise, the two appeared with the green ledger that had the proof of the cartel’s crimes.

It included all the information about the chocolate bribes that the Chocolate Cartel paid to the Chief of Police for clearing their path. But before being arrested, all three Cartel members started levitating as they had consumed Wonka’s floating chocolates. With the 3 villains flying away and the police chief being arrested, the world was free of corruption. So, Willy was finally able to share his chocolate with everyone.

He settled his debt with Oompa-Loompa and finally opened his chocolate factory, becoming the King of Chocolate. As soon as the credits rolled, Oompa-Loompa revealed how Willy’s allies lived happily ever after while Mrs. Scrubbit and Bleacher were arrested for poisoning Willy’s chocolates when he first opened his chocolate factory earlier in the film.

What is the secret of Willy Wonka’s mother?

After sharing his chocolate with the world, Willy finally opened the chocolate his mother left for him and found that the secret to a good chocolate is not any ingredient, but the people you share it with.

Willy’s mother fulfilled her promise and appeared in the crowd to say her final goodbye and give him closure. So, upon learning the secret to the best chocolate, Willy shared his mother’s chocolate with his friends.

Who is Noodle’s mother and father?

Towards the end, we find out that Noodle was related to Arthur Slugworth. She was the daughter of his brother Zebedee. Meanwhile, her mother was Dorothy Smith, who worked in the library.

Finding out about Slugworth’s ring, Willy realized that he and Noodle were family since she had a similar ring. Upon confronting Slughworth, he revealed the backstory of how 9 months after his brother died, he took Noodle and abandoned her. He also paid her mother to leave her daughter behind.

But later, Lottie who used to work in the telephone industry found out about Noodle’s mother, “D. Smith,” aka Dorothy. Uniting Noodle with Dorothy brought Willy Wonka’s story full circle.
