The Apprentice Cast: Jeremy Strong & Maria Bakalova Join Trump Movie

According to Deadline, Emmy winner Jeremy Strong and Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova have signed on to join The Apprentice cast for the upcoming biographical drama, which revolves around the mentor-protege relationship between a young Donald Trump and attorney Roy Cohn.

The Succession vet is expected to play the infamous lawyer, while Bakalova will be portraying Trump’s first wife Ivana. Meanwhile, Sebastian Stan has also been tapped for the leading role of a young Trump. This won’t be the first time that Stan will be playing a real-life figure, following roles in Hulu’s Pam & Tommy series, Margot Robbie’s I, Tonya, and the Gamestop biopic Dumb Money.

What to expect in The Apprentice?

Described as an exploration of power and ambition, The Apprentice will be directed by Iranian filmmaker Ali Abbas from a screenplay being written by Gabriel Sherman. It is executive produced by Grant S. Johnson, Gabriel Sherman, Amy Baer, Mark Rapaport and Emanuel Nuñez. Producers are Daniel Bekerma, Jacob Jarek, and Ruth Treacy of Taylored.

“Set in a world of corruption and deceit, The Apprentice will examine Trump’s efforts to build his real estate business in New York in the ’70s and ’80s, also digging into his relationship with infamous attorney Roy Cohn,” reads the synopsis. “It’s a mentor-protege story that charts the origins of a major American dynasty. Filled with larger than life characters, it reveals the moral and human cost of a culture defined by winners and losers.”
