Final Destination 6 Release Date Rumors: When Is It Coming Out?

Final Destination 6 is the upcoming sixth entry in the Final Destination franchise. Created by Jeffrey Reddick for New Line Cinema, which is now owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, the Final Destination film series debuted with the eponymous movie in 2000, followed by Final Destination 2 (2003), Final Destination 3 (2006), The Final Destination (2009), and Final Destination 5 (2011). If you are wondering when the sixth installment is coming out, you have come to the right place.

Here’s all the Final Destination 6 release date information we know so far, and all the details on when it is coming out.

Is there a Final Destination 6 release date?

The Final Destination 6 release date could arrive by late 2024 at the earliest.

The buzz about Final Destination 6 has been about since early 2011, when Tony Todd, who portrays the mysterious William Bludworth in multiple entries in the franchise, reportedly told Dread Central that two sequels would be developed back-to-back if Final Destination 5 was successful. This was later effectively confirmed by the fifth film’s director, Steven Quale, who told Movie Hole in August 2011 that the future of the franchise entirely depended upon the fans, how Final Destination 5 performed internationally, and whether it matched the success of the fourth film.

Final Destination 5 made $157.9 million at the global box office against its $40 million budget. However, it wasn’t until January 2019 that it was officially announced that the sixth entry was in development. In March 2020, series producer Craig Perry indicated in an interview with Digital Spy that the upcoming film would focus on first responders.

By the end of 2022, Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein had joined the project as co-directors. It was announced that Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor would pen the script from a story by Jon Watts, based on the characters created by Jeffrey Reddick.

The film was supposed to go into production in mid-July 2023 under the title Final Destination 6: Bloodlines. However, the Hollywood strikes happened, and Reddick told Collider in August that the filming would begin after the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike ended.

According to reports, the filming is slated to start in January 2024 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. If the sixth film manages to maintain the timeframe of the previous entry, which spent three months in production and about seven months in post-production, it can come out in late 2024 at the earliest.

In October 2023, the film’s production designer, Rachel O’Toole, told The Direct that the upcoming project could be regarded as a reboot. “Well, we started working, and then we were put on hold because of the writers’ strike,” she said. “We were two weeks away from cameras. So we were deeply involved in building that world out. I would say, when I read the script, I was like, I continued wanting to read it. And sometimes when you’re reading a script, you’re just like, ‘Oh, okay, okay. Chuck this back, you know, like for the interview, pretend to love it.’ But I actually really did love it. It’s got a really fresh take on it, and we do consider it a reboot. But stay tuned, I suppose. I can’t say anything about it.”

This date is an estimation based on the information we have at the time of this writing.

Although a number of former Final Destination cast members have expressed their desire to be part of the upcoming movie over the years, the only confirmed one as of late November 2023 is reportedly Tony Todd.

Where is Final Destination 6 coming out?

Final Destination 6 is anticipated to come out in theaters in late 2024 at the earliest.

This is because it was announced in January 2022 that Final Destination 6 would premiere on HBO Max, though it’s possible that Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema might decide to release the film in theaters as well.

Ultimately, it might come down to how much faith the production companies will have in the project. ComingSoon will provide updates when the release date is officially announced and if the distribution mode is altered.
