Such Brave Girls: Hulu Releases Trailer for A24’s Comedy Series

Hulu has unveiled the trailer for the forthcoming A24-produced comedy series Such Brave Girls, scheduled to premiere on the streamer on December 15, 2023.

What is Such Brave Girls about?

Created and written by comedian Kat Sadler, who will also star in the series as Josie, Such Brave Girls will tell the story of a dysfunctional family of three trying to navigate life together and bring all the broken pieces back after their narcissistic father and husband left them for good. Starring alongside Sadler are her real-life sister Lizzie Davidson as Billie and Louise Brealey as their mother, Deb.

From the producers of I May Destroy You and Sally4Ever, Hulu describes Such Brave Girls as “a comedy series from the U.K. exploring life and love in all its ugly chaos.”

The official synopsis reads: “The story follows a single mother, Deb, and her two daughters, Josie and Billie, attempting to piece their lives back together after their narcissistic father and husband finally leaves them.”

Though Such Brave Girls is a fictional story, Sadler told the BBC that the forthcoming series is something “deeply personal” to her and her sister.

“Such Brave Girls is a family sitcom about three damaged narcissists who are desperate for love. It’s three characters trying to navigate the world armed with nothing but poor judgement skills, and self-esteem that’s exclusively tied to people that couldn’t care less about them,” said Sadler.

She added, “It’s a fictional show exploring trauma and dark subject matters that are deeply personal to myself and my sister which would normally be dealt with in a drama territory, and moving it into a comedy space because that’s how we deal with our issues. But it’s proudly a sitcom.”

Consisting of six episodes, the upcoming comedy series will air on the BBC in the U.K. via BBC Three and BCC iPlayer on November 22 before making its debut on Hulu on December 15.

Catherin Gosling Fuller produces the series, with Simon Bird (The Inbetweeners) serving as the show’s director. Along with Sadler, Jack Bayles, Phil Clarke, and Helen Williams also served as executive producers.
