Mean Girls Trailer: Reneé Rapp Leads Paramount’s Musical Reboot

Paramount Pictures has released the official Mean Girls trailer for its upcoming musical reboot of Tina Fey’s iconic teen comedy, starring Reneé Rapp and Angourie Rice. The film is slated to arrive in theaters on January 12, 2024.

The video introduces this generation’s newest “The Plastics,” led by Rapp’s Regina George. Just like the original 2004 movie, the modern reboot will center around new student Cady Heron as she infiltrates Regina’s elite clique of popular girls in an attempt to find a way to take them down. The trailer also teases the return of Fey and Tim Meadows as they reprise their respective roles as Ms. Norbury and Principal Duvall.

Who’s the cast of the Mean Girls musical?

“New student Cady Heron is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics,” ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George and her minions Gretchen and Karen,” reads the synopsis. “However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels, she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis and Damian, she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.”

Mean Girls is directed by Arturo Perez and Samantha Jayne from a screenplay written by Fey.
