El Muerto: Bad Bunny Awkwardly Talks Dead Marvel Movie

Bad Bunny, also know as Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, spoke briefly about the situation with Sony‘s Spider-Man villain-based movie El Muerto.

What did Bad Bunny say about exiting El Muerto?

In a feature by Vanity Fair, Bad Bunny was asked about what happened with El Muerto, which he exited earlier this year after announcing the film at CinemaCon 2022.

The outlet describes the question as leading to “an awkward silence,” followed by his publicist Sujeylee Solá saying, “Next question.” Martinez then briefly stated, “I don’t know what to say” and described the issue as “delicate.” Finally, Solá said, “Obviously, it’s out.”

El Muerto is based on the Marvel Comics anti-hero who crossed paths with Spider-Man in the pages of Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #16 and #17.  In October 2022, Jonás Cuarón, son of Gravity director Alfonso Cuarón, was announced as the film’s director with Blue Beetle screenwriter Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer set to pen the script.

El Muerto was originally scheduled to release on January 12, 2024. However, it was taken off the release calendar just before Bad Bunny left the project. The next installments in the Sony Spider-Man Universe will be Kraven the Hunter, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, releasing August 30, 2024, and Madame Web, starring Dakota Johnson, releasing February 14, 2024.
