Castlevania Spin-off Series Gets Netflix Release Date, Poster

Castlevania is returning to Netflix in September with a new spin-off series, Castlevania: Nocturne.

Per Bloody Disgusting, Castlevania: Nocturne will premiere on Netflix on September 28, 2023. The first teaser trailer for the upcoming season is expected to release online on July 27, 2023. Netflix Geeked released a new poster for the series on Twitter, which includes a tagline reading, “I pray for you, Richter Belmont.”

Details surrounding Castlevania: Nocturne have largely been kept under wraps; however, the series is said to be set during the French Revolution in 1792 and will follow Richter Belmont, a descendent of Trevor, on a dangerous adventure full of vampires, monsters, and more.

Castlevania: Nocturne is created and written by Clive Bradley, with Kevin Kolde serving as the showrunner. Based on the video game created by Konami, the series is adapted from 1993’s Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and 1997’s Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Netflix Returns to the World of Castelvania

Created and written by Warren Ellis, the first season of Castlevania dropped on Netflix in July 2017. The animated series sees Trevor Belmont (voiced by Richard Armitage), a monster hunter with a complicated legacy, go to war with Dracula (Graham McTavish) after the undead vampire tries to destroy all of humanity with an army of demonic monsters.

Joining Trevor in battle are a powerful magician named Sypha Belnades (Alejandra Reynoso) and the son of Dracula, Alucard (James Callis), who harbors nothing but hatred for his father. The series also stars Theo James as a forger named Hector, Adetokumboh M’Cormack as a rival forger named Isaac, Jaime Murray as a vampire mistress named Carmilla, and more.

Castlevania ran for four seasons in total, with the second season coming in 2018, the third in 2020, and the fourth in 2021.

Castlevania: Nocturne premieres on Netflix on Sept. 28, 2023.
