Aquaman 2 Cuts Ben Affleck’s Scene as Batman

A scene in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has cut out a scene with Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

This upcoming DC superhero movie is set in the DC Extended Universe and is set to feature Jason Momoa reprising his role as Arthur Curry/Aquaman. The film has been going through extensive reshoots and test screenings, having been rescheduled a few times by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Michael Keaton was originally set to appear in the movie as Batman in a role similar to Nick Fury’s in the MCU. Keaton recently reprised his iconic role in another 2023 DC movie The Flash. However, in late July 2022, Ben Affleck joined reshoots, filming a scene as Batman meant to replace the one Keaton appeared in. However, Aquaman 2 was then pushed back even further to after Keaton and Affleck were both already set to appear in The Flash.

The latest cut of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will now feature no appearances at all from the Caped Crusader. This is because new DC heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are rebooting the franchise with the DC Universe and do not want to promise a cinematic universe that will not come to fruition.

Is Amber Heard in Aquaman 2?

Yes, Amber Heard is in the Aquaman 2 cast, where she will reprise her role as Mera. This comes after controversy surrounding her personal life which saw her in a widely publicized trial with Johnny Depp.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to release on December 20, 2023, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
