The Bear Season 2: Will Poulter ‘Begged’ to Be in FX Series

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 star Will Poulter has revealed that he was such a fan of The Bear that he “begged” to be in the FX/Hulu series.

What did Will Poulter say about joining The Bear?

While speaking with Variety, Poulter revealed that he’s a big fan of The Bear. The actor is such a fan that he “literally begged” to be on the show, leading him to play the character Luca in Season 2.

“I called them. I literally begged to be in the show. I asked if I could meet with Chris Storer and basically communicated that I was such a fan of so much of his work, but especially The Bear,” Poulter explained. “He was kind enough to gift me with the offer to play Luca and it really changed my life, to be honest. It kind of helped me realize a dream of playing a chef on TV. I have such an immense amount of respect for chefs and the women and men of that industry. I feel like the whole society stands on the shoulders of people in the food and beverage industry, and we don’t even necessarily really know it or think about it. They sustain us and maintain us daily and they don’t get enough thanks for what they do.”

The Bear is executive produced by Christopher Storer, Joanna Calo, Hiro Murai, Nate Matteson, and Josh Senior. The comedy drama stars Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Edwin Lee Gibson and Matty Matheson. Season 2 will also introduce new characters in the form of Molly Gordon and Bob Odenkirk.

For his leading performance in Season 1, White earned a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. The show was also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

“Season 2 follows Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto, Sydney Adamu and Richard ‘Richie’ Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they work to transform their grimy sandwich joint into a next-level spot,” reads the logline. “As they strip the restaurant down to its bones, the crew undertakes transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future.”
