Felicity Jones Andor Season 2 Return Won’t Be Happening

Felicity Jones starred in the Star Wars prequel film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Despite her connection to Andor, however, Jones doesn’t think she’ll return for Andor Season 2.

Will Felicity Jones return for Andor Season 2?

Speaking to BBC One’s The One Show (via ComicBook.com), Jones was asked if she’d ever return as Jyn Erso. Jyn is the daughter of Galen Erso, and goes on to help Cassian Andor steal the Death Star plans in Rogue One. According to Jones, she won’t be in the second season, but has hope for Erso to appear in the future.

“I’m afraid to say I won’t be, but I still have hope for Jyn Erso at some point to make a comeback. But no, sadly I won’t be,” said Jones, before adding that she actually isn’t a huge fan of reprising previous roles. “I actually wouldn’t want to repeat any of [my characters]. It’s so funny — once you’ve sort of done it and you’ve kind of put them to bed, then you’re ready for the next challenge.”

In Rogue One, Erso and Andor both die at the end of the film. Not before they get the plans for the Death Star into the hands of the Rebel Alliance, though. This sets the stage for Star Wars: A New Hope, and the destruction of the intergalactic WMD.

Recently, Andor creator and showrunner Tony Gilroy noted that the final three episodes of Andor will take place during the three days leading up to Rogue One. This will connect both the series and the movie, as well as bring a close to Cassian Andor’s story.

The Star Wars prequel series also stars franchise alums Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, and Alan Tudyk as Cassian’s droid sidekick K-2SO. Additional cast also includes Star Wars newcomers Denise Gough, Stellan Skarsgård, Kyle Soller, and Adria Arjona.

Andor is executive produced by showrunner Gilroy, who previously directed the reshoots for Rogue One. Gilroy was originally expected to direct three episodes, but was forced to give up the position to Black Mirror‘s Toby Haynes due to pandemic-related travel issues.
