Zachary Levi Addresses Report That Dwayne Johnson Nixed Shazam 2 Cameos

In a surprising move on social media, Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Zachary Levi seemingly took some shots at fellow DC Universe star Dwayne Johnson following a report that Johnson didn’t want to appear in the Shazam! sequel.

The move came via an Instagram story that Levi shared on Tuesday. In it, the actor shares a screenshot of a report from TheWrap, which released a report noting that members of the Justice Society from the Black Adam film were originally planned to be in Shazam! Fury of the Gods‘ post-credit scene. However, according to the report, Dwayne Johnson denied access to the characters, and also reportedly didn’t want Levi to appear in Black Adam as a cameo either.

Underneath the screenshot, Levi seemed to confirm the report, writing “the truth shall set you free” alongside an upside-down smiley face emoji and a pair of hands celebrating. Instead of members of the Justice Society, characters Emilia Harcourt and John Economos from the HBO series Peacemaker appeared, shocking fans.

The report also mentions that Johnson had attempted to “restructure” the DCEU, centering it around himself and Henry Cavill’s Superman, although it’s unclear how true that is. Regardless, with the recent resetting of the DC Universe from James Gunn and Peter Safran, and Henry Cavill now officially out as Superman, any hopes of a Black Adam and Superman clash seem all but gone.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is now available to watch in theaters.
