Rupert Grint on What He’d Need to Reprise Role as Ron Weasley

Rupert Grint is best known for his role as Ron Weasley in the iconic Harry Potter movie franchise, and despite not playing the role in some time, he wouldn’t be opposed to returning to the role if the opportunity arose.

Speaking during an appearance on This Morning on Thursday, Grint said that he’d become quite protective over the character since he’s grown up, but that he would definitely be up for playing the character again if the timing ended up being right.

“I think if the timing was right and everyone was coming back,” said Grint. “It was a character that was important to me, we kind of became the same person. I’m protective of him as well. It was my whole childhood.”

The last time Grint reprised the role of Weasley was in 2011’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, the final film adaptation of the novels. Grint did return to the world of Harry Potter in HBO’s Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special in 2022, although he hasn’t actually played the role of Ron in more than 10 years.

Up next for Grint is a role in M. Night Shyamalan’s horror film Knock at the Cabin, which will also serve as Grint’s first movie role in eight years. His last role in a film came in the 2015 Antoine Bardou-Jacquet film Moonwalkers. Since then he’s also been starring in the M. Night Shyamalan Apple TV+ psychological horror series Servant, which has been running for four seasons.
