The Hobbit Trilogy Marathon Coming to IMAX December 15

Those who can’t wait to catch Peter Jackson’s grand finale to his The Hobbit trilogy are in luck as TheOneRing.net is reporting that select IMAX theaters will be hosting a marathon of all three movies on December 15, two days ahead of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies‘ official release.

Tickets for the event – not unlike a simialr marathon held before the release of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in December 2003 – will go on sale Friday, November 14th. Tentative showtimes are: An Unexpected Journey (theatrical edition) at 1:00 p.m., The Desolation of Smaug (theatrical edition) at 4:05 p.m., and The Battle of the Five Armies at 7:00 p.m. Check your local theater for participation and pricing.

Opening nationwide December 17, The Battle of the Five Armies concludes the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins, who joins the Wizard Gandalf and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield, on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. The film’s massive cast includes Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, Stephen Fry, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Ken Stott, James Nesbitt, Orlando Bloom, John Bell, Manu Bennett, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Billy Connolly, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Lawrence Makoare, Sylvester McCoy, Graham McTavish, Dean O’Gorman, Mikael Persbrandt and Aidan Turner.
