Star Wars Eclipse Release Date Window Reportedly Pushed Back

Report: Star Wars Eclipse to Feature New Race

New details on developer Quantic Dream’s planned Star Wars game, Star Wars Eclipse, have come to light, according to a recent report from Sacred Symbols.

The report notes that, despite rumors from earlier this year that the game was in danger of being canceled, it is still “in very early production,” with Sacred Symbols host Colin Moriarty noting that he didn’t even really know if the game had started proper production of yet.

However, despite the early state of the game, the podcast noted that they had documents given to them that showcase the overview of one of the game’s main characters. The character, named “Sarah” in the documents, is described as “an athletic 30-something” and is a member of a human-like race. The race itself is at the lead of an empire called “The Zaraan,” a race not yet seen in any Star Wars lore before.

“It prides itself on political and military aggression and similar to what you find elsewhere in Star Wars there’s little differentiation between males and females when it comes to roles and responsibilities,” reads the report (transcription via VGC). “But, there’s an interesting wrinkle, when Zaraan marries, their nuptials carry interesting military implications as they become one governing unit that works together. This is a problem, because Sarah, a fanatical true believer in the violence and criminality regularly demonstrated by her empire, is married to a character named Xendo, who is a far softer touch. Part of the game seems to revolve around these two characters and their relationship.”

The podcast’s report also mentioned that the game was being co-written by David Cage and Adam Williams, who have previously worked on all of Quantic Dream’s other games. At this moment, it’s unclear if this plot is even correct as of now, and if it is, if the game will remain the same between now and its eventual release.

All we know about the game currently is that it will be an “intricately branching action-adventure game” with multiple playable characters, as is usually the case with Quantic Dream’s games. The game will also take place in Star War‘s High Republic era, putting it far away from any of the more well-known Star Wars characters that exist in various properties today.
