“Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder finds the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – one of self-discovery,” says the official description. “But his efforts are interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.”

Spencer Legacy: What’s it like to be part of something as big as Marvel?

Kieron L. Dyer: It’s crazy. I mean, it’s such a big universe — they’ve been going on for like 10 years now. So to come in now, there’s definitely a standard that they have, and I wanted to keep that up. Obviously, with my character being a new character as well … but me and my family loved watching Marvel movies together. We’ve watched all of them 10 times by now. So being in this universe … I’m so privileged to be able to do that.

As such a big fan, what was the coolest part about filming Thor: Love and Thunder?

I think the coolest part about filming it was definitely being able to do stuff that I’d never done before, like improvising, being able to do the fight scenes I got to do, and meeting all the incredible people that I got to meet, like Taika [Waititi, director] and Tessa [Thompson] and Natalie [Portman] and Chris [Hemsworth] and Christian Bale. I think I learned a lot from all of them.

What was it like to work with Chris Hemsworth?

It was very, I guess, nerve-wracking at first because Thor’s been one of my favorite characters throughout the MCU. So to be able to act side by side with him was definitely nerve-wracking at first, but he made me feel really comfortable. We always ran through our lines together, which made me feel a bit better. So yeah, it was really fun working with and learning so much from him. So I’m really glad I got to.

Did you have a favorite scene to film?

I think my favorite scenes definitely got to be that end battle scene. I think it looks so cool in the movie and when I was filming it, I was just so pumped every single day when I was doing all that fighting. I was so excited. I think that was my favorite scene to film. I got to do so many stunts. I got to do a lot more wire work with the harnesses and stuff like that, and obviously catching Stormbreaker. That was definitely a highlight and an iconic moment.

That must have been an awesome moment. Were you excited to have Idris Elba as your onscreen dad?

I was very excited to have Idris Elba as my onscreen dad. I mean, I loved Heimdall even before I got this part, actually, in the MCU. I also liked him in Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw, where he played the villain. So when I found out he’s going play my onscreen dad, I was excited. Then I got meet him on set as well.

Are you a Guns N’ Roses fan like Axl?

I was a big fan of “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns N’ Roses before I got this part. That was kind of like my energetic, pump-me-up kind of song. Then I think after I got the part in this film, I looked into Guns N’ Roses a bit more and their other songs. Then I just started playing them all. They were on my playlists. “November Rain,” “Paradise City” … I think it definitely inspired me to become more of a fan.
