Emily Trailer: Emma Mackey Leads Biopic About Wuthering Heights Author

The official trailer for Emily, the upcoming biographical drama has been released, starring Sex Education alum Emma Mackey. The film will have its world premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, followed by its U.K. theatrical debut on October 14. It currently has no U.S. release date yet, but it will be distributed by Bleecker Street.

The Emily trailer, which you can check out below, offers us a preview of Mackey as she portrays one of the most celebrated authors in the world Emily Brontë, who’s best known for writing the classic novel Wuthering Heights.

Emily stars Emma Mackey (Sex Education), Alexandra Dowling (The Musketeers), Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Haunting of Hill House), Amelia Gething (The Spanish Princess), Fionn Whitehead (The Duke), Adrian Dunbar (Line of Duty) and Gemma Jones (Gentleman Jack).

“The film tells the imagined life of one of the world’s most famous authors, Emily Brontë,” reads the synopsis. “It features Emily, a rebel and misfit who finds her voice and writes the literary classic Wuthering Heights. The film explores the relationships that inspired her – her raw, passionate sisterhood with Charlotte and Anne; her first aching, forbidden love for Weightman, and her care for her maverick brother whom she idolizes.”

Emily is written and directed by Golden Globe-winning actress Frances O’Connor (Blessed) in her feature directorial debut.
