“I’m not part of the new series. I can’t really talk about why,” Thakrar said in a recent interview with Daily Star Sunday. “But I’m so proud of the show and grateful to have been part of something so important. There is nothing bad about Sex Education.”

Due to Thakrar’s hesitance to mention why she wouldn’t be returning, the circumstances surrounding her departure are unclear, but her leave follows a handful of other departures. Recently, Patricia Allison — who played Ola in the series — and Tanya Reynolds (Lily) both announced they would be departing the series, surprising fans who were hoping to see more of their characters in the future.

Sex Education stars Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Connor Swindells, Aimee-Lou Wood, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Mikael Persbrandt, and Chinenye Ezeudu. It also features Mimi Keene, Simone Ashley, Chaneil Kular, Sami Outalball, Anne-Marie Duff, George Robinson, Chinenye Ezeudu, Alistair Petrie, Samantha Spiro, and Jim Howick.
