Madame Web Set Video Shows First Look at Dakota Johnson’s Character

As production continues on Madame Web, the first behind-the-scenes video from the set of Sony Pictures’ next Marvel superhero film has finally arrived online, seemingly confirming which version of the titular hero will Dakota Johnson be playing.

In the comics, Cassandra Webb was the first person to take on the name of Madame Web. She is a clairvoyant and psychic mutant, who’s blind and paralyzed. Before dying from the wounds inflicted by Kraven’s wife Sasha Kravinoff, she passes her powers onto Julia Carpenter, who became the second Madame Web.

The Madame Web set video, which you can check out below, provides our first glimpse of  Johnson who is seen wearing an outfit similar to Julia Carpenter’s style in the comics. Despite this, the film’s plot still remains unclear.

Sony’s Madame Web is being led by Dakota Johnson as the titular Spider-Man character. Joining Johnson are Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Isabela Merced (Transformers: The Last Knight), Emma Roberts (American Horror Story) along with Golden Globe nominee Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps (The Upshaws), and Adam Scott (Severance).

Created by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr. in 1980, Madame Web is a blind psychic that has become a major player in the world of Spider-Man due to her ties to “The Great Web,” a multiversal construct that ties all “Spider” characters together across the multiverse.
