New Details on Resident Evil Revelations 2 Revealed

Just last week it was revealed that Capcom was developing Resident Evil Revelations 2 for release next year, and now we’ve got a few more details on what to expect from the upcoming title from the latest issue of GamesMaster Magazine (via Push-Start), including the lead character and when it takes place in the chronology of the series.

First, Claire Redfield will be the lead playable character of the game and she’s described as having “grown to be a seasoned veteran” in the time since players last saw her with the game taking place between the events of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6. Moira Burton, daughter of the legendary Barry Burton, will join Claire in the game’s story, which can be played either single player or cooperatively. The pair will begin the game waking up after having been abducted “on an abandoned island detention facility,” which will serve as the location for the game.

In addition, a new enemy type will debut in the game known as the “Afflicted” which “may look like zombies, but are in fact something quite different.” The outlet says this enemy will force players to choose how the react to them, be that guns blazing, sneak around in the shadows, or simply turn tail and run.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2015. You can check out the teaser trailer for the game in the player below.
