Tasked with infiltrating the villainous organization’s headquarters, Piccolo must dress up in a full Red Ribbon Army uniform, complete with boots, helmet, and more. Luckily for Piccolo, the disguise masks nearly all of his body, hiding his green skin and making him blend in a bit more amongst the other members of the group.

In an interview with director Tetsuro Kodama (translation courtesy of DBSChronicles), it was that Piccolo’s outfit was designed by none other than the creator of the Dragon Ball franchise, Akira Toriyama, himself. According to Kodama, Toriyama is a “military enthusiast,” and put a lot of thought into the design.

“My personal favorite is the orange gun they have. This gun fires lasers, so it is designed to be fitted with a cylinder instead of a magazine,” said Kodama. “This is a very particular gun that was produced based on the details given by Akira Toriyama-Sensei.”

“In the past, Goku destroyed the evil ‘Red Ribbon Army’ organization. But their will lived on!” reads the official description for the film as translated by Todd Blankenship. “Now that they’ve revived, the R.R. create the new androids ‘Gamma 1’ and ‘Gamma 2,’ and begin their revenge. Piccolo soon notices this disturbing activity, and sneaks into the Red Ribbon base, but there he discovers an unimaginable ‘ultimate evil weapon’… Pan is kidnapped in order to lure Gohan to the base. There, he too joins the fight, and an unprecedented super battle begins! Where all this death-match lead?! And what fate lies in store for Earth?!”

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was originally slated to premiere on April 22, 2022, in Japan, with a release internationally originally planned for summer 2022. However, the film has since been delayed following Toei Animation being hacked. A new release date is not available as of now.
