James Gunn Teases Additional DCEU Cameos in Peacemaker Season 2

It has been over a month since the first season finale of Peacemaker, and fans are still feeling ecstatic from the unexpected Justice League cameo during the last minutes of the eighth episode. Creator James Gunn has finally opened up about the cameo, confirming that it wasn’t a last-minute addition and that he had planned it from the start. He also revealed that there are “tons” of unused footage from the scene where Ezra Miller’s Flash just kept on talking about the Aquaman fish rumor.

“It was done through pure force of will on my part, of really pushing it to happen,” Gunn told Total Film. “I think everybody read it in the script, agreed to it, and then it became [a thing], and they realized what a big fucking deal it was. I have tons of stuff I didn’t use. Ezra went on – and I’m not kidding – for 16 minutes about Aquaman having sex with fish. It was really funny.”

The Suicide Squad filmmaker also teased that fans should expect to see more DCEU cameos and connections in the upcoming second season of the John Cena-led series.

“I think we’re going to see more connections in some other stuff as we move forward with Peacemaker and other shows at HBO Max. So those [cameos] will keep coming,” Gunn stated. “I don’t know if the Justice League is going to show up in every season of Peacemaker; that might be a one-time thing. We’ll see!”
