Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre serves as a continuation of Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel’s 1974 seminal horror classic, reintroducing one of the most iconic villains of the horror genre to a whole new generation.

“It takes place years after the shocking events of the original, in a setting where Leatherface hasn’t been seen or heard from since,” according to Netflix and Legendary. “The film seeks to pick up where the Hooper and Kim Henkel film initially left off, bringing the most notorious franchise back to life in the same bold and provocative manner that it was first introduced.”

The sequel stars Golden Globe nominee Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade), Sarah Yarkin (Happy Death Day 2U), Mark Burnham (Wrong Cops), Moe Dunford (The Dig), Alice Krige (Star Trek), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner), Nell Hudson (Victoria), Jessica Allain (The Laundromat), Sam Douglas (Snatch), William Hope (Dark Shadows), and Jolyon Coy (War & Peace).

It will also feature the return of original final girl Sally Hardesty, who was first portrayed by Marilyn Burns in the 1974 classic. The character will now be played by Olwen Fouéré (Mandy), following Burns’ death in 2014 at the age of 65.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is directed by David Blue Garcia (Tejano) from a screenplay written by Chris Thomas Devlin (Cobweb), based on a story by Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues.
