Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Anime Adaptation Gets Release Date, Trailer

The next adventures in the legendary Bleach anime series are officially on the way, as creator Tite Kubo has shown off footage from the upcoming Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War series.

During the ongoing Jump Festa in Japan, Kubo shocked fans with a trailer for the long-awaited anime adaptation of the storyline. In the trailer, we’re treated to some new shots of very familiar faces, including Ichigo as he prepares to try and fight against a huge amount of Hollows who have invaded the World of the Living.

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is set to release in October 2022, and comes from studio Pierrot and director Tomohisa Taguchi. Bleach anime character designer Masashi Kudo returns for work on this new series, as well. In conjunction with the announcement, Viz Media announced that it had secured worldwide rights (excluding Asia) to the upcoming series.

While Bleach‘s anime became one of the most popular of all time during its run and right up to its end in 2014, it never did end up catching up to the serialization of the manga, which ended in 2016. Following the manga’s end with the Thousand-Year Blood War, fans were left having to hope that an anime series would come at some point, but now they can be happy knowing it’ll be here soon.
