Detective Conan Creator Celebrates Lupin the 3rd 50th Anniversary With Artwork

The iconic Lupin the 3rd is getting ready to celebrate its 50th anniversary and to celebrate the major milestone, the creator of another iconic manga and anime property has released a tribute.

Gosho Aoyama, the creator of the Detective Conan manga, recently drew an illustration of Lupin the 3rd’s Fujiko as part of a tribute to the show reaching the 50th-anniversary milestone.

The original Lupin the 3rd manga was created by Monkey Punch and has inspired five previous anime series, plus the spin-off Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine.

There have been multiple theatrical films including the critically acclaimed Castle of Cagliostro and over a dozen anime specials. The last anime in the series began in 2018 and was aired on Toonami in North America while also airing subtitled on Crunchyroll. The first anime adaptation debuted on October 24, 1971, with Lupin the 3rd: Part 6 having released just this month in Japan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the series.
