Amazon’s The Tender Bar Sets Date For George Clooney-Directed Pic

Amazon Studios has officially announced the release date for actor-director George Clooney’s forthcoming coming-of-age drama film titled The Tender Bar. Starring Ben Affleck and Tye Sheridan, the film will be having a limited release in L.A. and New York theaters on December 17, followed by a wide release on December 22. After its theatrical release, it will then be available for streaming on January 7, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

Its current wide theatrical release will see The Tender Bar going up against three other tough competitors in the form of Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Matrix Resurrections, 20th Century Studios’ The King’s Man, and Denzel Washington-directed pic A Journal for Jordan.

“It tells the story of J.R. (Sheridan), a fatherless boy growing up in the glow of a bar where the bartender, his Uncle Charlie (Affleck), is the sharpest and most colorful of an assortment of quirky and demonstrative father figures,” reads the synopsis. “As the boy’s determined mother (Rabe) struggles to provide her son with opportunities denied to her — and leave the dilapidated home of her outrageous if begrudgingly supportive father (Lloyd) — J.R. begins to gamely, if not always gracefully, pursue his romantic and professional dreams — with one foot persistently placed in Uncle Charlie’s bar.”
