Grace and Frankie Season 7: Netflix Drops First Episodes as Filming Continues on Sitcom

Grace and Frankie stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin took to Twitter to surprise fans with a brand new update about the upcoming seventh and final season of the hit Netflix comedy series. In their video announcement, the acclaimed actresses have revealed that the first four episodes of the final season are now available for streaming as a gift to viewers who have been patiently waiting for the new season, which is still currently in production.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, filming on Grace and Frankie Season 7 was delayed a few times now since last year, and had just resumed production last June. The remaining 12 episodes of the final season are expected to debut next year.

Grace and Frankie hails from Friends producer Marta Kauffman. It stars Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen, June Diane Raphael, Brooklyn Decker, Baron Vaughn, Ethan Embry, and Peter Gallagher

The series centers around “two women whose lives are turned upside down when their husbands reveal they are gay and leave them for each other,” reads the synopsis. “Both sparring partners and partners-in-crime, Grace and Frankie form an unlikely and unbreakable bond and face their uncertain futures head-on, hand-in-hand. Together with their ex-husbands and children, they discover the true definition of “family,” with laughter, tears, and plenty of mood enhancers along the way.”

Grace and Frankie is executive produced by Marta Kauffman, who also produced Friends, and Howard J. Morris (Home Improvement), who are serving as showrunners. Executive producers are Fonda, Tomlin, Paula Weinstein, Robbie Tollin, Hannah KS Canter, Marcy Ross, Dana Goldberg, David Ellison, and Bill Bost.

Seasons 1-6 are available for streaming on Netflix.
