Alongside the clip, director Hiroshi Nagahama and Adult Swim Executive Producer Jason DeMarco shared the news that Uzumaki was forced to be delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and changes to the animation productions. According to Nagahama, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a tremendous impact on the world of Japanese anime, especially when it comes to Uzumaki.

Nagahama went on to say that the team behind the show was forced to restructure their plan behind it, and would require even more animators than previously anticipated. Because of this, the show needed to be delayed but is making progress towards being completed. While that news may have fans a bit unhappy, the fact that the show is progressing and seems to look very good should keep them excited for the new release. Uzumaki is now scheduled to release in October 2022.
