The series titled Shoot the Moon will follow Michael (Jeong), a son of Korean immigrants. While Michael feels like he’s achieved the American dream initially, it all shatters after both his career and marriage fall apart. This causes him to go on a quest to reassess his life and priorities.

Shoot the Moon is produced by Daniel Day Kim and will be loosely inspired by the “life failures” of Paul Bae, a former high school English teacher and stand-up comedian who created The Black Tapes podcast series. Bae was an evangelical youth pastor who married his college sweetheart, but after divorcing and becoming an atheist, he embarked on a years-long journey with his friends and family back to wholeness.

Produced by Kim’s 3AD in association with Amazon Studios, Shoot the Moon is another in the producer’s long list of credits. Before this, Kim has had his name attached to The Good Doctor, as he helped bring the original Korean series stateside to ABC. Daniel Dad Kim, Ken Jeong, and 3AD’s John Cheng will executive produce the series.
