Kevin Feige Shuts Down Chris Evans’ Rumored Captain America Return

Earlier this year, it was reported that Chris Evans was supposedly in the final talks to return to the MCU to reprise his iconic role as Captain America. Due to Evans’ clear intention to retire his superhero character in previous interviews, fans were very surprised by the news with some apprehensive whether it was really a good decision to bring him back so soon or not because of how nicely his storyline wrapped in Avengers: Endgame. Now, in a recent interview with EW, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has finally addressed the said circulating Captain America rumor by immediately shutting it down.

“I rarely answer no to anything anymore because things are always surprising me with what happens, but that rumor, I think, was dispelled rather quickly by the man himself,” Feige said.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, whose MCU characters closely worked with Steve Rogers/ Captain America, also got to weigh in on the rumor, revealing that it had also surprised them when they’ve first heard about it.

“I was actually fishing [when the report came out]. When I came back in to get some shrimp, the dude at the dock was like, ‘Hey, man! Did you see this s—?!'” Mackie recalled. “I’ve been going to the same guy to get my bait for like 20 years and all of a sudden now he’s a fan. He had no idea who I was. Now he’s a fan.”
