The Burnt Orange Heresy Trailer: Sony Sets Another Theatrical Release for Drama Film

Following the first theatrical release of The Burnt Orange Heresy last March which was abruptly cut short due to the ongoing global pandemic, Sony Pictures Classics is now giving director Giuseppe Capotondi’s drama thriller film another chance as they’ve decided to re-release the film in theaters on August 7, 2020. The announcement also came with the released of a brand new trailer, which you can check out in the player below!

Based on Charles Willeford’s novel of the same name, The Burnt Orange Heresy follows the story of a follows a charming and ambitious art critic James Figueras and his enigmatic American lover Berenice Hollis as they get commissioned by a wealthy art dealer named Joseph Cassidy. In Joseph’s villa,  he asks them to  steal a painting from the legendary reclusive artist, Jerome Debney. Soon, James’ greed and ambition get the better of him, and he finds himself caught in a web of his own making.

The film stars Claes Bang (Dracula) as James Figueras, Elizabeth Debicki (Widows, Tenet) as Berenice Hollis, Mick Jagger (Performance) as Joseph Cassidy, and Donald Sutherland (Hunger Games franchise) as Jerome Debney.

The Burnt Orange Heresy is directed by Giuseppe Capotondi from a script written by Scott B. Smith. It is produced by William Horberg, David Lancaster and David Zander. The film had its world premiere at the 2019 Venice International Film Festival.
