Janelle Monáe Has Been Chosen in New Antebellum Trailer

Lionsgate has released a brand new trailer for Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz’s forthcoming feature directorial debut horror film Antebellum, featuring new footage of the film’s mysterious plot as well as a new look at Janelle Monáe’s character. Originally slated for an April 2020 release, the film has now been pushed back to August 21. Check out the video below! (via Jimmy Kimmel Live)

Antebellum will follow the story of successful author Veronica Henley (Janelle Monáe), who finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality and must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late.

The film will star Janelle Monáe (Hidden Figures), Kiersey Clemons (Sweetheart), Gabourey Sidibe (Precious, American Horror Story), Jena Malone (The Hunger Games trilogy, The Neon Demon), Eric Lange (Narcos), Jack Huston (Ben-Hur), Tongayi Chirisa (Crusoe), Marque Richardson II, Rob Aramayo, and Lily Cowles.

Antebellum will be the feature writing and directorial debut of Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz or Bush+Renz, who are known for directing the viral police brutality PSA titled Against the Wall which starred Michael B. Jordan, Danny Glover and Michael K. Williams. QC Entertainment’s Ray Mansfield and Sean McKittrick are serving as producers along with Zev Foreman (Dallas Buyers Club) and Lezlie Wills.
