Jason Momoa’s Sweet Girl Adds Marisa Tomei

The Marvel Cinematic Universe and DCEU are getting their own little crossover with the upcoming Netflix thriller Sweet Girl as Spider-Man: Far From Home star Marisa Tomei has joined the cast that’s being led by Aquaman‘s Jason Momoa, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Tomei, who has been nominated for three Oscars and winning one for her performance in My Cousin Vinny, is set to star in the film as a U.S. Senator. She joins a cast that already includes Momoa, Isabella Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold), Adria Arjona (Morbius), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (6 Underground) and Justin Bartha (National Treasure).

In Sweet Girl, Momoa will play a husband who vows to bring justice to the people responsible for his wife’s death while also protecting his daughter.

The movie is written by Gregg Hurwitz and Philip Eisner, with current revisions by Will Staples. Brian Andrew Mendoza is directing the project, which will serve as his feature directorial debut. Mendoza and Momoa previously worked together on 2018’s Braven and Netflix’s Frontier series.

Brad Peyton and Jeff Fierson of ASAP Entertainment will produce alongside Momoa. Martin Kistler will serve as executive producer.

Momoa’s recent credits also include Aquaman, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Justice League, Once Upon a Time in Venice, Sugar Mountain, and The Bad Batch. The actor recently wrapped production on the Dune adaptation from director Denis Villeneuve and is currently filming the See TV drama series for Apple TV+.
