Rick and Morty Season 4 Episode 5 Recap

Rick and Morty Season 4 Episode 5 Recap

In the previous episode of Cartoon Network’s Rick and Morty, Morty’s dragon cheated on him with Rick. In Rick and Morty Season 4 Episode 5, Morty messed with a planet of snakes when he tried to make up for killing their space snake.

Flat Tire

While out in space, Rick’s ship got a flat tire. Instead of staying in the ship like Rick told him to, Morty went out while Rick changed the tire. A space snake bit him, and he killed it. Rick scanned the snake’s planet to discover that it was home to 19 billion snakes in the middle of a race war. He discovered an anti-venom – and snake jazz – and fixed Morty.

Unfortunately, Morty felt guilty. He bought a snake at a pet store and drew markings on it. He put the snake in the snake space suit, took Rick’s ship, and dropped the imposter space snake back onto the planet. This caused the snake civilization to invent time travel, as Morty’s actions made them unite against what was out there in space.

A Snake Eating Itself

Rick and Morty Season 4 Episode 5 Recap

Back at the snake planet in present-day, Rick and Morty realized that the snakes hadn’t invented time travel yet. Their future selves arrived with snake costumes and a book about snake time travel. They snuck into Snake MIT and dropped the book off in 1985. Rick accelerated their snake time travel discovery. Though it put them in danger, as time snakes appeared on Earth, it also alerted a testicle monster at the 4th Dimensional Time Cop Headquarters. They went back to the cave snake period of the snake planet and wiped out the snakes. The time snakes on Earth disappeared.

Neutrally Buoyant

Rick and Morty Season 4 Episode 5 Recap

Beth had told Morty to watch out for Jerry, who was hanging Christmas lights. Rick was trying to get Morty to leave Jerry to go on their adventure. Unfortunately, Jerry slipped, but Rick saved him by making him lighter than air. To keep him from floating away, Rick made Jerry’s shoes heavier than air so that he would be neutrally buoyant. He could jump high to attach the Christmas lights. It would only last ten hours, so Jerry set a timer on his phone.

While out, Jerry tried to join a pickup basketball game. One of his shoes fell off, and he floated away. Beth had realized Jerry was gone and got Rick involved. Beth called Jerry, and Rick froze her to talk to him. Jerry refused to let Rick help him, so they made up a story to Beth. Jerry used rainwater and then a boulder to weigh him down, but he was forced to drop it and was thrown out of a bar. He grabbed ahold of a plane but kicked a flying time snake into the engine. The whole plane went down. After the snakes had disappeared, he was on the roof of his house pretending to have been putting lights up the whole time.
