Isabela Merced Joins Jason Momoa in Netflix’s Sweet Girl Movie

According to Collider, Isabela Merced (formerly known as Isabela Moner) has been cast for the lead role opposite Jason Momoa (Aquaman, Dune) in Netflix’s forthcoming revenge thriller Sweet Girl. Merced is set to play the role of Momoa’s daughter.

Merced recently starred in this year’s Dora and the Lost City of Gold, portraying the role of the iconic titular explorer. Her notable film credits include Transformers: The Last Knight, Instant Family, and Sicario: Day of the Soldado. She will next be seen in the romantic comedy Let It Snow which will be available for streaming on November 8 on Netflix.

In Sweet Girl, Momoa will play a husband who vows to bring justice to the people responsible for his wife’s death while also protecting his daughter.

The movie is written by Gregg Hurwitz and Philip Eisner, with current revisions by Will Staples. Brian Andrew Mendoza is directing the project, which will serve as his feature directorial debut. Mendoza and Momoa previously worked together on 2018’s Braven and Netflix’s Frontier series.

Brad Peyton and Jeff Fierson of ASAP Entertainment will produce alongside Momoa. Martin Kistler will serve as executive producer.

Momoa’s recent credits also include Aquaman, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Justice League, Once Upon a Time in Venice, Sugar Mountain, and The Bad Batch. The actor recently wrapped production on the Dune adaptation from director Denis Villeneuve and is currently filming the See TV drama series for Apple TV+.
