Spider-Man: Far From Home teases new footage

Spider-Man: Far From Home Shows New Footage in Re-Release Teaser

It’s Labor Day weekend, the unofficial end of summer, and also the time when Spider-Man: Far From Home is celebrating its second theatrical run. To celebrate the re-release, the film’s official Twitter account released a new teaser that shows off some of that new footage it’ll contain this time around. You can see for yourself in the tweet below.

The Far From Home re-release was timed to coincide with Labor Day weekend. It’s also fortuitous for Sony, because this past weekend was the first time that the Spidey sequel has fallen out of the top 10 — even after grossing a billion dollars worldwide. Granted, the moment is somewhat bittersweet, as Sony and Disney have since started a pretty big squabble over the rights to the character, which means that this could be last big-screen outing where Spider-Man is officially part of the MCU.

Given that Avengers: Endgame‘s re-release helped it break Avatar‘s worldwide record, Marvel superhero film re-releases could become a trend. At $376 million, Far From Home is second only to Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man for the Spidey domestic record of $403 million. Even with the re-release, that may be a tall order for Far From Home. However, if the box office continues to be soft ahead of It: Chapter Two‘s release, then Sony could have a shot at that record.

It also remains to be seen if fans will embrace another Marvel re-release so soon after the last one. The Avengers: Endgame re-release’s unfinished Hulk deleted scene and other extras were widely criticized for being insubstantial.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is (back) in theaters this weekend.
