Downton Abbey Movie Trailer Welcomes You to a New Era

Focus Features has released the official trailer for the upcoming Downton Abbey movie which will be a continuation of the award-winning beloved series. Featuring our first look at the returning cast members as they prepare for the King and Queen’s Royal visit, you can check out the video below.

The critically acclaimed show’s main cast are set to return for the feature including award-winning actress Dame Maggie Smith,  Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Michelle Dockery, and Elizabeth McGovern. In addition to the original cast, Oscar nominee Imelda Staunton (Maleficent, Doctor Who),  Geraldine James (Sherlock Holmes), David Haig (Killing Eve), Tuppence Middleton (Sense8), Simon Jones, Kate Phillips, and Stephen Campbell Moore are all set to appear in the film. Matthew Goode who played the role of Henry Talbot will have a brief appearance.

Also returning from the series is its creator Academy-Award winner Julian Fellowes who wrote the film’s screenplay and will produce alongside Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge. Brian Percival (The Book ThiefAbout a Girl), who directed the series’ pilot, will direct the film. Nigel Marchant will also return to executive produce.

The television series Downton Abbey followed the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who worked for them at the turn of the 20th century in an Edwardian English country home.  Over its 6 seasons, the series garnered 3 Golden Globe Awards, 15 Primetime Emmy Awards, a Special BAFTA award and 69 Emmy nominations in total, making Downton Abbey the most nominated non-US television show in the history of the Emmys – even earning a Guinness World Record for the highest critically rated TV show along the way.

The Downton Abbey movie is a Carnival Films production, with Focus Features and Universal Pictures International distributing.

The film will arrive in theaters internationally on September 13, followed by the U.S. premiere on September 20.
