The CW’s Batwoman Adds Dougray Scott as Jacob Kane

Following the recent casting of Rachel Skarsten as Red Alice, TVLine reports that Mission: Impossible 2 actor Dougray Scott has been tapped to join the cast of The CW’s Batwoman. Scott is set to play the role of Kate Kane’s father, Jacob Kane. He was a former high-ranking soldier in the military who now runs a private security firm in Gotham named The Crows.

Jacob’s official character description in the series is described as follows: “He has made it his mission to protect his city better than the Dark Knight ever could,” per the official character description. But it’s only a matter of time before his unwavering disdain for vigilantes puts him at odds with Gotham’s new caped crusader…who also happens to be his own daughter (played by Ruby Rose).”

In addition, Marcos Siega has also signed on for the project to replace David Nutter as the pilot’s director. Nutter gave up his directorial duties due to personal reasons but will continue his involvement in the series as its executive producer.

In the comics, Jacob Kane is still a Colonel in the army, and is a very valuable ally to his daughter. He plays an important role in Batwoman’s operations by providing her with the classified information that he can obtain through his military connections.

Scott is best known for his roles in films such Ever After, Mission: Impossible 2, Hitman and My Week with Marilyn. His notable TV credits includes: Desperate Housewives, Hemlock Grave, Fear the Walking Dead, Snatch and The Woman in White.

The series stars Ruby Rose as Kate Kane/Batwoman, Meagan Tandy (Teen Wolf) as Sophie Moore, Camrus Johnson (Luke Cage) as Luke Fox and Nicole Kang (You) as Mary Hamilton.
