Avengers: Infinity War Wins Big in 2019 Visual Effects Society Awards

The 17th annual Visual Effects Society awards were held on Tuesday and Avengers: Infinity War cleaned up big with four awards, which also marked the first time a Marvel movie has claimed the top prize for Outstanding Visual Effects. Other big winners included Ready Player One, partly for the recreation of The Shining’s Overlook Hotel, First Man for its portrayal of the moon landing, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse for its innovative animation style.

Other honorees included Illumination founder/CEO Chris Meledandri, who was given a lifetime achievement award, Westworld’s Jonathan Nolan was given the Visionary Award, and Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss took home the Award for Creative Excellence.
