ABC Orders Pilot Based on John Mayer’s Heart of Life

John Mayer’s popular song “Heart of Life” is getting its own television pilot. According to The Wrap, Ben Queen (Drive) has written a pilot based on the song’s lyrics about two sets of siblings who meet for the first time as adults, forcing them to reevaluate their lives and the perception they had of their shared father.

Mayer will executive produce the pilot with Melvin Mar, Jake Kasdan and Paul Weitz in conjunction with Twentieth Century Fox Television and ABC Studios.

“Heart of Life” was released in 2006 and featured on Mayer’s Continuum album along with Waiting on the World to Change, Gravity and Say.

Adapting songs into TV shows and feature films seems to be a popular trend in show business these days. In December it was reported that Universal was adapting a collection of Prince’s classic songs into a feature film. Likewise, Suspiria director Luca Guadagnino’s next film is based on Bob Dylan’s classic album Blood on the Tracks.

Per the report, The Plain White T also announced plans to adapt their 2006 hit song “Hey There Delilah” into a “scripted romantic drama” produced by Lively McCabe Entertainment and Primary Wave.
