CS Video: The Cast of The Host

From the same author that turned The Twilight Saga into a worldwide pop culture phenomenon, Stephenie Meyer’s thriller The Host comes to the big screen this Friday with a feature film adaptation starring Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, Jake Abel, Diane Kruger, William Hurt and Frances Fisher.

Set in a future where Earth has been conquered by alien lifeforms that overtake human bodies and chase away their memories, a band of freedom fighters work together to maintain the last vestiges of humanity. When one girl, Melanie Stryder (Ronan), is captured, she somehow manages to retain her consciousness even though her body now belongs to a creature called Wanderer. Sympathetic to Melanie’s plight, Wanderer forms an uneasy bond with Stryder. Her return to the resistance is not without significant danger, however, as loyalties are soon questioned and Wanderer and Melanie find they could both lose everything they hold dear.

ComingSoon.net sat down with Ronan, Irons and Abel to talk about the unique approach to Ronan’s dual role — which actually had the young actress acting opposite herself — and the vital role of Meyer’s original novel in their preparation of the characters’ backstories.
