WonderCon News

Rounding out Sony Pictures' WonderCon presentation was a panel that previewed the apocalyptic comedy This is the End, which features the likes of Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, James Franco, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride, Jonah Hill and many more actually playing themselves up against the end of the world.

A new green band trailer showed off a bit more of the storyline which was then detailed even further in a full clip; Baruchel has flown into Hollywood to visit Rogen and they both head to a big party at James Franco's house. They're all in the middle of the celebrity-packed shindig when something happens and the Earth begins to shake. Franco is trying to get everyone to calm down, shouting, "It's all right! The In N Out truck will be here in ten minutes!"

Following quite a few warnings about the graphic content featured in the footage, Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead took to the WonderCon stage with Alvarez, producer and original franchise star Bruce Campbell and cast members Lou Taylor Pucci, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas and Jane Levy.

The panel began with a new trailer created exclusively for WonderCon. Very similar to the recent Red Band version, this one offered some alternate shots and the tagline, "Once you unleash evil, it will consume you. Fear what you will become."

Sony Pictures launched its WonderCon film presentation panels today with a look at the upcoming The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, based on the popular fantasy book series by Cassandra Clare.

The panel saw the debut of the film's new trailer which plays heavily on the theme of worlds colliding, showing Clary's life before becoming aware of the Shadowhunters at a nightclub. There's also quite a bit of narration by Hodge Starkweather (Jared Harris), explaining some of the rules of the fantasy world.

Following the show’s spring return last Monday, "Revolution" fans plugged into today’s WonderCon panel session featuring stars Billy Burke, Elizabeth Mitchell, Tracy Spiridakos, Zak Orth, David Lyons, Daniella Alonso and Tim Guinee, as well as co-executive producer David Rambo. Fans in attendance also got an advance look at footage from upcoming episodes, via an exclusive highlight reel prepared specifically for WonderCon.

Guillermo del Toro took to the stage at the Anaheim Convention Center today for a WonderCon panel focusing on his upcoming sci-fi actioner Pacific Rim.

Featuring a cast that includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman and more, Pacific Rim takes place in a not-too-distant-future where humanity has come under attack from enormous monsters known as Kaiju. To combat the creatures, all the nations of the world have constructed mechanical colossuses called Jaegers.

Warner Bros. opened their WonderCon panel today with an early look at James Wan's The Conjuring, which stars Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Joey King, Shanley Caswell, Haley McFarland, Mackenzie Foy, Kyla Deaver and Sterling Jerins.

Two scenes launched the panel. In the first, Lili Taylor's Carolyn Perron is playing hide-and-seek with her daughters, Christine (Joey King) and Nancy (Mackenzie Foy). The mother is blindfolded, but she's allowed to ask for three different claps from the girls to track them down.

Fielding a fan question at today's WonderCon panel for his upcoming Pacific Rim, Guillermo del Toro offered a few details about his in-development DC Universe project, Dark Universe (He also hinted that it may ultimately be called Justice League Dark).

Del Toro has written a story bible for the film and they have a writer to adapt the screenplay that they hope to announce very shortly. The project won't happen, however, until after del Toro's next, the horror story Crimson Peak.

Legendary Comics and Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro gave WonderCon attendees a surprise treat today as they revealed the cover art for the graphic novel, Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero. The fully-painted cover was created by Alex Ross.

Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that WonderCon attendees will be able to get a set of Pacific Rim trading cards. Featuring the artwork for all of the Jaeger posters that have been released over the past week, the set of five cards can be seen below. No word on whether these cards will be released to the general public, but you can keep an eye out on eBay in the meantime.
