ComingSoon.net’s in Las Vegas for CinemaCon!

It’s become a grand tradition here at ComingSoon.net for us to go to Las Vegas for the annual exhibitors convention CinemaCon (formerly called ShoWest). For the third year in a row, Caesar’s Palace is the home for CinemaCon and as in past years, hundreds of exhibitors and theater owners will gather to find out what the studios have to offer their audiences over the next few months.

As usual, we’ve gotten there a bit early to check out the posters on display, some of which you can see below and others you can check out in our 2013 CinemaCon Gallery.

Like last year, Paramount Pictures gets to kick things off with their presentation on Monday night, and besides showing footage from J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness, they’re also planning on showing Michael Bay’s Pain & Gain, starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson, in full.

20th Century Fox will have their own presentation as well as showing The Heat, a police buddy comedy that pairs Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy with Bridesmaids director Paul Feig, which was originally going to have an April release.

Walt Disney Pictures will be showing the Dixar•Pixar animated prequel Monsters University as an incomplete work-in-progress and showing footage from Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger, starring Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp.

Warner Bros. will show more footage from Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby (which debuted at CinemaCon last year), Todd Phillips’ comedy The Hangover Part III (a long-time favorite among CinemaCon attendees) and Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Who knows? Maybe they’ll even show some footage from Peter Jackson’s second “The Hobbit” movie.

CBS Films will be showing their upcoming summer comedy The To Do List starring Aubrey Plaza (“Parks and Recreation”) and Bill Hader, whose wife Maggie Carey wrote and directed the movie.

Besides the above, there will also be presentations from Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures and Lionsgate—the former two really blowing us away last year with their presentations without bringing talent to help get the exhibitors excited.

Stay tuned this week as we present more pictures, interviews and write-ups on the footage we see, and you will definitely want to follow the Weekend Warrior Twitter as that’s where my first reactions will be posted.
