Once Upon a Time Comic-Con Panel Introduces Aladdin & Jafar

Once Upon a Time Comic-Con Panel Introduced Aladdin & Jafar

Once Upon a Time returns to ABC for its sixth season on September 25 and at the panel in Ballroom 20 at San Diego Comic-Con, we got a look at some new characters coming to the show. At the end of the panel, which let us know that Hades may have been lying about Olympia Crystal, we got a look at the very first scene of the new season. It opens with a man riding a horse furiously through the grasslands. Behind him is a man on a flying carpet, shooting red lightening at him. We’re getting some characters from Aladdin. Check out the video clips below!

Deniz Akdeniz (Graceland) is taking on the role of Aladdin and Oded Fehr (“Covert Affairs”) will play the evil Jafar. In the scene, which you can watch below, we learn that a certain former street kid is a chosen one like Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and that the course of the lives of chosen ones rarely end with a “happily ever after.” That doesn’t bode well for our fair heroine.

In addition to the casting news, we got a short directed by writer Jane Espenson, which showed Cruella De Vil (Victoria Smurfit) hanging in a bar in the underworld, lamenting the boredom of the place, now that the heroes had gone. Bartender/Sir Mordred, played by Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s James Marsters suggests moving on to a higher plane, but a lady who wants to skin a man with soft skin might not be the best candidate.

We learned that Regina (Lana Parilla) and the Evil Queen are going to have a huge story arc now that they’re separate people. Regina will still be “sassy and sarcastic,” according to creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, and will still be gunning for the heart of Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin). Morrison and Colin O’Donoghue who plays Hook recreated a cuddle scene that fans went crazy over, but the cast said the wedding dress in the background of their final scene is actually not a wedding dress at all and has always been there.
