Although Yvette Nicole Brown’s Shirley Bennett and Jonathan Banks’ Buzz Hickey are not be back as series regulars this year, stars Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong are set to be joined by Paget Brewster as Francesca “Frankie” Dart, a consultant brought in to help improve Greendale, and Keith David as Elroy Patashnik, a washed up inventor who decides to return to college as a means of reinventing himself.
Written by Carol Kolb, “Basic Safety Features” is directed by Rob Schrab, the man helming 2018’s The LEGO Movie Sequel. It is officially described as follows:
“A former boyfriend lures Britta (Jacobs) into joining Honda’s guerilla marketing campaign. Jeff (McHale) looks to get Elroy (David) to like him.”
“Community” was created by Dan Harmon and ran on NBC for five seasons before moving to Yahoo! Although the show’s fan-championed battle cry has been for “Six Seasons and a Movie,” Harmon has recently said that he hopes for the show to live on long beyond that. Plans for a feature film, however, are already being considered.
