Mad About You Revival Series Sets Premiere Date in New Teaser

Spectrum Originals has revealed the official premiere date for their forthcoming Mad About You revival series. Featuring the return of Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt as Paul and Jamie Buchman, the first half of the limited series is scheduled to debut on November 20 with the final six episodes set to premiere on December 19. The announcement came with the release of the show’s first teaser, which you can check out in the player below.

The Mad About You limited event series will explore modern marriage through the eyes of the Buchmans (Paul Reiser, Helen Hunt), as newly minted empty-nesters after dropping their unpredictable, hard-to-control daughter Mabel (Abby Quinn) off at college.

The new installment is expected to be set 20 years after the original series’ ended its run on NBC in 1999. In the original sitcom, Mabel was introduced in Season 6 and was portrayed by two sets of twins through the seventh and final season. In the Season 6 episode “Letters to Mabel,” an 18-year-old Mabel is played by Meredith Bishop. In the series finale, a teen Mabel is played by Cara Delizia, and an adult Mabel is played by Janeane Garofalo.

The half-hour comedy from showrunner Peter Tolan and Sony Pictures Television is slated for a late 2019 launch. Hunt will direct the first episode with original co-creator Danny Jacobson serving as an executive consultant.

Mad About You is produced by Sony Pictures TV in association with Comedy Dynamics. Tolan will serve as showrunner, executive producer, and writer for the series. Hunt and Reiser will also executive produce alongside Brian Volk-Weiss, Michael Pelmont, and Matthew Ochacher for Comedy Dynamics.
