Blake Lively Developing Scripted Series for Amazon Studios

Blake Lively is taking her talents to Amazon Studios. The actress has agreed to bring a scripted show to the streaming service, according to studio head Jennifer Salke. As reported by Deadline, the surprise announcement was made from the stage of the Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit.

“I told business affairs I’m going to do this,” Salke said, observing this announcement might come as news to Lively. “She’s in Rome, asleep. She’ll wake up to it.”

Per the report, Salke had been meeting in New York with Lively to discuss an original show that is “both culturally relevant and has a merchandising component.”

Salke rose to her current position after former studio head Roy Price vacated the role due to allegations of sexual harassment. Making a culturally signifiant show is just one step she is taking in resetting the studio’s culture.

Lively can currently be seen in Paul Feig’s crime drama/comedy A Simple Favor alongside Anna Kendrick, which received positive reviews and has so far amassed $77 million worldwide since its release in September. The move to Amazon will mark a return to TV for the actress after her work on the popular series Gossip Girl from 2007-2012.
