Domhnall Gleeson to star in HBO’s rom-com pilot Run

Variety reports that About Time actor Domhnall Gleeson has signed on for a leading role in HBO‘s upcoming romantic comedy pilot Run, starring Emmy-nominated Killing Eve creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge who will also serves as executive producer. This will mark Gleeson’s first major TV series commitment.

In Run, Gleeson is set to play the role of a successful life guru Billy Johnson, who is born from a wealthy Irish family. He has the gift of the gab, he deftly combines a boatload of charisma with a boundless need for approval.

Run is romantic-comedic-thriller series that follows the story of Ruby, a woman living a humdrum existence, who one day gets a text, inviting her to fulfill a youthful pact promising true love and self-reinvention, by stepping out of her life to take a journey with her oldest flame.

Vicky Jones has written the project who will also executive produce alongside Waller-Bridge through their DryWrite banner. The series is being produced by Entertainment One with Emily Leo of Wigwam Films also set to executive produce.

Gleeson is best known for his role as Bill Weasley in Warner Bros. Pictures’ Harry Potter film franchise. He will next be seen in the crime drama film The Kitchen starring alongside Girls’ Trip star Tiffany Haddish and The Handmaid’s Tale‘s Elisabeth Moss; and in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX, reprising his role as General Hux.
