Bodyguard is Coming to Netflix

BBC One’s breakout political thriller Bodyguard is coming to Netflix next month. The series is produced by World Productions, an ITV Studios company.

The series, which stars Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) and Keeley Hawes (High-Rise) has proven to be a breakout hit over in the UK, drawing in the most ratings of any drama series in the BBC’s multi-channel-era. Its sixth and final episode will air on BBC One on September 23, roughly one month before it becomes available to stream on Netflix. The show, which premiered in August, follows Police Sergeant David Budd (Madden), a troubled war veteran who works as a bodyguard for a controversial politician, Julia Montague (Hawes), whose viewpoints are the opposite of his own.

Bodyguard has gripped the nation with its twists and turns. It’s a perfect example of a show produced locally which has huge global appeal. Through our partnership with Netflix, we can’t wait for audiences around the world to enjoy the show as much as audiences here in the UK,” said Maria Kyriacou, ITV Studios’ President International.

Hawes is currently filming a number of TV mini-series, including Jerusalem and Summer of Rockets, while Madden is keeping busy with the upcoming Elton John biopic Rocketman.

Bodyguard premieres on Netflix October 24th.
