The Hollywood Reporter says that NBC is developing a modern “Wuthering Heights” adaptation with Greg Berlanti. Tom Donaghy (“The Whole Truth”) will write the Napa-set version.
The show is set to be titled “Napa” and will be executive produced by Berlanti and Donaghy. Berlanti Television’s Melissa Kellner Berman is on board to co-executive produce.
“Wuthering Heights” is the tale of the troubled orphan Heathcliff and his doomed love for Catherine Earnshaw. The novel was published in 1847, the year before author Emily Bronte’s death at the age of 30.
The windswept moors are the unforgettable setting of this tale of the love between the foundling Heathcliff and his wealthy benefactor’s daughter, Catherine. Through Catherine’s betrayal of Heathcliff and his bitter vengeance, their mythic passion haunts the next generation even after their deaths.
