Rick and Morty Renewed for 70 More Episodes!

Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland has taken to Twitter to deliver the news fans have been waiting for: Cartoon Network and Adult Swim have renewed the animated series! In lieu of a traditional season long pick-up, however, the network has given the order for 70 (seventy!) additional episodes of the series, which is already double the current episode count for the show.

No official time frame for the release of the new episodes has been released, but since previous seasons of Rick and Morty have traditionally run for 10 episodes a piece, fans can expect the 70 episodes to be split across multiple seasons. At the conclusion of the 70 episodes, it will bring the series to 101 total episodes, putting in the target range for a syndication deal. Previously Rick prophesied in the third season premiere that it could take him nine more seasons to complete his series arc of finding the Szechuan sauce from McDonald’s that he covets so much.

Created and executive produced by Dan Harmon (Community) and Justin Roiland (Adventure Time), the half-hour animated series airing on Sundays at 11:30pm ET/PT follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe.
